Olivia Gaillet's thesis now online

Thesis

PhD thesis defended with success !

In the context of energy management development at Intégrale Ingénierie, the thesis works led by Olivia Graillet entitled : Développement d'un nano-réseau en courant continu (DC) pour les bâtiments autonomes en énergie" are now online!

The key points discussed concern current topics in energy management for buildings:

  • Instrumentation and analysis of energy management for tertiary sector premises.
  • Study on the efficiency of DC electrical distribution, from design to deployment phase.
  • Development of a thermal storage optimization model to prioritize the availability of solar energy for building cooling or heating.
  • Application on an isolated site: The Piton des Neiges campsite.

The main results of these research axes are as follows:

  • The DC equipment represents 42% of the annual electricity consumption of the tertiary sector premises studied.
  • The 48V DC voltage studied can enable significant energy savings under certain conditions. It may be advantageous to couple the 48V and 380V DC voltages to power all electrical devices present in buildings, especially for future DC air conditioning models.
  • Conducting thermal storage optimization studies during building design phase can contribute to adjusting or reducing the number of photovoltaic modules needed for the building.
  • For isolated sites, thermal storage optimization can also have an impact on the sizing of the battery quantity needed and thus reduce the global environmental impact of the building.
