Study day
On 7 February 2024
Valence
This year again, the LCIS participate to the Kaléidoscope week the 7 and 8 of February 2024
Grenoble INP will repeat the Kaléidoscope experience this year, from February 5 to 9, 2024. During this week, 1900 students from second-year engineering programs and M1 students from 8 schools of Grenoble INP-UGA will be involved in activities related to the following themes:
• Introduction courses allowing students to discover topics taught at other schools (e.g., AI, biomaterials, batteries, etc.)
• Ethics
• Fablabs
• Intercultural and international
• Research
• Transitions
Last year, 16 laboratories participated in this event by offering research pathways of 2 and 3 days. This year again, the LCIS will participate in the research pathway on Wednesday-Thursday, February 7-8, 2024.
The goal of these research pathways is to introduce students to what academic research is, what a PhD thesis is, for most students who know very little or nothing about this aspect of higher education. A two-day immersion in laboratories with researchers, PhD students, and post-docs presents several interests, confirmed by last year's experiences:
learning what a PhD is, the activities of PhD students, the fact that they are employed;
introducing the laboratories and research on site on various topics;
potentially sparking vocation for research (academic or R&D);
evolving in a multicultural environment.
