Welcome to Phuong Hoa Nguyen, the new ATER in the CTSYS team since September 2026.
Her office is on the second floor of building D, room D224.
Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
My name is Nguyen Phuong Hoa, and I recently joined Grenoble INP - Esisar and the LCIS laboratory as an ATER in Computer Science for this academic year.
What is your background (education, experience, etc.)?
I received my Ph.D. in Cryptography from Université de Rennes (IRISA) in early 2025, following a Master’s degree in Information Security and Cryptography from Université de Limoges and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from FPT University in Vietnam. Before moving to Valence, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in cryptography at Télécom Paris (Institut Polytechnique de Paris).
Can you briefly explain your PhD topic?
My thesis, titled "New automated approaches in cryptanalysis", focused on developing and applying automated techniques to evaluate the security of symmetric ciphers, with an emphasis on block ciphers. While traditional cryptanalysis largely relies on heuristic and manual statistical methods, automated tools offer powerful systematic alternatives. My research explored how these tools can be formulated and leveraged to advance the cryptanalysis of specific primitives.
What skills can you share?
I have strong expertise in symmetric cryptography and optimization techniques (such as constraint modeling and solvers), along with academic illustration/typesetting using LaTeX and TikZ. I am always happy to exchange ideas or collaborate on these topics.
Where can people find you? How can they contact you?
You can find me in office D224 (Building D, 2nd floor) or reach me by email at phuong-hoa.nguyen

Would you like to share anything else (an experience, a passion, something personal, etc.)?
Outside of teaching and research, I enjoy traveling, exploring scenic walking trails outdoors, and collecting postcards from the places I visit!
