Thematic day on RFID tag design

Conference / Conferences

On 23 February 2024

Valence

conference

RFID technologies continue to generate growing interest in thousands of applications and concern billions of objects. RFID has long been confined to tracing and identification applications, but with the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), RFID is increasingly seen as the technology that enables the real implementation of IoT and AI. To meet these demands, scientists and engineers are pushing the limits of RFID technologies by exploring new applications and exploiting new features to transform the RFID identification label into an augmented label. Such developments are particularly concerned with antennas at both the tag and reader levels. Indeed, antennas must take into account real environments, often characterized by the presence of lossy materials, such as food products or biological or metallic environments. Furthermore, transforming RFID tags into sensors is necessary to respond to RAIN standards and IoT norms. The design of adapted antennas is a necessary step to obtain high-performance tags.
