As part of the teaching "science, technology and society", a conference is being organized on Tuesday, April 4th at 17:15 in amphitheater D030.
The title will be: Technological showdown between China and America and European digital sovereignty: challenges and prospects

Abstract:
Over the past five years, tensions between China and America have risen sharply, with many experts likening it to a technological war, particularly in the digital industries. Against this backdrop, marked by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the European Union asserts its willingness to move towards more technological and digital sovereignty. This conference-debate proposes analyzing the origins and challenges of European ambitions and raises the question of their feasibility.

The speaker, Patricia Nouveau, is a teacher-researcher at the University of Louvain (Belgium) and researcher at the Centre for International Relations Studies (CEFIR, University of Liege, Belgium). Her research focuses on the digital policies and challenges of the European Union. The conference should last about an hour and a half (including questions and discussion) and is open to everyone! So don't hesitate to come if the topic interests you.
