Welcome to Daniel Thirion, the new PhD student of the CTSYS team from the 1st of January 2024
He is supervised by Vincent BEROULLE, David HELY and Valentin EGLOFF.
His office is at the D building, 2nd floor, D233.
Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
Hi, I'm Daniel. Originally from Bouches-du-Rhône. I'm a big fan of mountains (paragliding, hiking, skiing), but also an electronic music enthusiast, and I've had a huge love for computer science and electronics since my childhood.
What's your background (education, experience...)?
I completed high school and my baccalaureate in Réunion (2018) and then returned to France to pursue a DUT in Electrical and Industrial Informatics at Salon-de-Provence (Aix-Marseille academy, 2020). I obtained my Master's degree from ESISAR in 2023 through an internship at STMicroelectronics Crolles, where I worked on design, implementation, and realization of injection platforms within a safety context. After a brief stint at Frontgrade Gaisler, Gothenburg, Sweden, where I developed a method for injecting memories, I began my CIFRE thesis with the LCIS team (with Vincent BEROULLE, David HELY, and Valentin EGLOFF) and STMicroelectronics.
Can you briefly explain your thesis topic?
Coming from an industry-focused safety group, a bridge was formed thanks to Vincent on collaboration between the worlds of Safety and Security in the context of embedded systems. The goal of my thesis will be to find analysis methods and countermeasures at the RTL or architectural level linking these two contexts, in a world where a component for Aerospace or Automobile markets requires responding to both problems but using unrelated methods.
Where can you be found? How can one reach you?
Being primarily based in Crolles, I move around occasionally to Valence. You can contact me by email (daniel.thirion
lcis.grenoble-inp.fr (daniel[dot]thirion[at]lcis[dot]grenoble-inp[dot]fr) or daniel.thirion
st.com (daniel[dot]thirion[at]st[dot]com) ). In case of necessity, I can travel to the laboratory site.
Do you have anything else you'd like to share?
I'm very proud to stay within the ESISAR/LCIS sphere and be able to continue contributing to the research landscape. Thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself, and it's a pleasure to meet and discuss interesting topics with all of you.
